What I found interesting in the endless vox pops on the radio and tv yesterday was that they found a few young people wondering what the fuss about the Queen was (she don't do nuffink!) but that the support understandably for her was pretty overwhelming ..... but as soon as Charles was mentioned even prune faced old Grannies narrowed their eyes and looked like they wanted to cut his cock off with a scone knife.

King Charles with his divisive past and as someone who won't respect the Queens public neutrality and desire to keep out of politics could be a very interesting figure.
Is there anyone who thinks he will be loved and respected to even a tiny proportion of what the Queen is?

Just because a lot of people in a country believe in something (e.g. Islam or another religion) doesn't mean it is necessarily right or good.

That gets to why I admire her "performance" throughout her reign.

Elizabeth I was the Queen at the dawn of the empire. Victoria was the Queen at the height of the Empire. Elizabeth II, through no fault of her own, has been the Queen for the burial of the Empire. The lesson she has taught is how to remain classy, trying to keep ones dignity, despite leaner times.

The world has moved on so quickly in her time; everything has changed, yet she has remained the constant identity throughout.

I repeat, I am no royalist, but I admire our Queen greatly. Her class is like gold; it doesn't corrode.

As far as I am concerned Surface, I wish the queen a long and happy life. If you have to have a monarch then she has handled it as well as possible.

However, I am against the principle of a monarchy - not any individual. I see no justification whatsoever for a hereditary head of state anywhere in the world.
